Moving to a Simpler Life Style

Anne was excited to move to an active life community of like-minded individuals! She was so smart to start planning her downsizing a long time ago.
When she contacted me, she was looking for help to determine what will fit into her new home. She wanted to make it inviting and functional.

She showed me her favourite throw cushions with an intricate gold and olive green pattern with peacocks. I used them as an inspiration for the entire design concept.

Anne was moving into a brand new empty unit. It was an open concept kitchen joined with the living room. Here is a 3D view of it.

After creating a floor plan, I determined which of her existing pieces did fit in and what other additions will be necessary to create a comfortable living area.

I chose a compact sleeper sofa that would allow to accommodate Anne’s  daughter when she wants to stay over.

To create a cheerful ambiance in a North facing living room, I suggested to paint a bright accent wall in Hydrangea Green colour by Benjamin Moore.
The window treatment added some softness to the space and became a show stopper element of the design concept.

Sitting on a counter stool with her back facing the beautiful view of the patio did not seem luring. Instead we decided on a dedicated breakfast area with a table for two.

To make the entrance functional and allow a surface to sit on and additional storage, I designed a custom built bench. It had a glove compartment under the seat with some storage for hats and a cute mail pocket and hooks for coats.

The accent wall turned out beautifully!

And here is what Anne shared about her experience:
I recently sold my house and downsized to an apartment. I don’t know what I’d have done without Marina’s help. She is extremely competent, cooperative and always readily available. I had no idea how to furnish my new space. Marina took measurements and pictures and came back with perfect suggestions, incorporating my existing furniture wherever possible. Her input made the whole process stress free. Now that I am settled we are still working happily together with final touches. I have no hesitation in recommending Marina to my friends.
